LIVE Nov. 2026: Early Intervention Officials-Course 2: Role & Responsibilities in EIP Administration

Description
Presented live (real-time) in a virtual format:
November 18, 2026 (Wednesday), 9:00am-11:30am and
November 19, 2026 (Thursday), 9:00am - 11:30am

Early Intervention Officials (EIOs) and Managers (EIMs) fulfill a critical role in administering the Early Intervention Program (EIP) at the local level in New York State. This course gives EIOs and EIMs a foundational understanding of the EIO’s role and regulatory responsibilities related to:

• Administration of the local program, including the EI Administration Work Plan, Local Early Intervention Coordinating Councils (LEICCs), municipal EIP records, monitoring, and audits
• Ensuring family-centered services
• Procedural safeguards and parent and family due process rights
• IDEA Part C compliance indicators and the State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR)

This course will be presented live on November 18 and 19 then later recorded in a self-paced format. It is designed for EIOs and EIMs who are newer to the EIP, but EIOs and EIMs of all experience levels, as well as other interested EI professionals, are welcome to attend. Live participants are invited to share their feedback to help improve content of the recorded version.

This course is the second of two new courses focused on EIO responsibilities. Course 1 (which was presented live and will be available by late November in a self-paced format) walked through the early intervention steps--from referral to transition out of the EIP--highlighting the EIO role and responsibilities at each step. Course 2 (presented live November 18-19) looks at the EIO’s role in local administration of the EIP, procedural safeguards, family-centered practices, and annual reporting requirements. Course 1 is not a prerequisite for taking Course 2.

This live online class series will be facilitated by Rusty Kindlon and Deidre Romanski of the New York State Early Intervention Program Online Professional Development Center (NYSEIPOPDC) and will train participants together in one “virtual classroom.” Space for the live course is limited.

Certificates of Completion and Professional Development Hours:
After completing both live online training sessions (Nov. 18 and 19) in their entirety and submitting the post-course evaluation survey, a certificate of completion will be available for you to download. We suggest that you print and retain a copy of the certificate for your records. The certificate of completion will provide hours toward the 10-hour annual requirement for ongoing professional development, as stated in the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Early Intervention Provider Agreement. Should you miss any portion of either of the live training sessions, you will not receive a certificate of completion.
